What is PerformancePoint 2007?

PerformancePoint 2007  is a suite of applications which provides performance management solutions for planning, budgeting, and forecasting , business scorecarding and monitoring and analytics.  The applications are built on Microsoft's existing SQL Server 2005 Architecture, SharePoint, Microsoft Excel (2003 or 2007) and ProClarity

PerformancePoint builds upon your existing Microsoft Environment and is made up of the following new components:

  • PerformancePoint Server 2007 Planning
  • PerformancePoint Server 2007 Monitoring
  • PerformancePoint Server 2007 Analytics

I have been working with PerformancePoint Server Planning 2007 since the summer of 2006.  I was involved in the Microsoft TAP program (Technology Adoption Program), so I have been working with the product since its alpha release.  For now this blog will focus mostly on planning, budgeting and forecasting components of PerformancePoint.
